Birthday Girl

Yes, it is my birthday. The big 28. Everything after 18 is big. Every time November 2nd comes around I happen to reminisce on days gone by and what the future holds. I know its kind of cheesey..but doesn't everyone. A birthday come around and you think...."well, this year I'm going to get things done, go on a nice vacation, spend more time with loved ones..." and so on. Most people probably do that around the New Years.

I didn't think in 6th grade that I would be around to get married much less have kids. I looked forward to being 18 years old. I guess I thought after 18 it didn't matter how old you were anymore. I didn't really look forward to being 16 either which now looking back was kind of strange with the sweet 16 and all.

Here am I in 6th grade. I had long hair almost to my waist and kept it in a ponytail most of the time..ok..all of the time...OK, OK..I still do. Some things never change. See how dark I was? Tanning beds were not invented then...or if they were, they were not cool. This is all natural from the sun.
Graduation 2000. Still have the hair pulled back. I had just received a gift from my brother. My very own camera!!! I loved that camera..still do. That was before digital.
September 2009. I looked and looked for a recent picture of myself and this is what I found. I gained a few pounds, OK a lot of pounds, but its still me.

Happy Birthday to me.

Waxing leaves

Hello y'all!!!!! I know it's been a while since I've posted anything however, I wanted to show you guys a really simple way to get outside and enjoy the weather with your kids, kick up some leaves and then teach the kids about seasons. I saw this on another blog called Clover Lane. You can go to http://www.memoriesoncloverlane.blogspot.com/ and check out her site. I have posted my own instructions. Believe me they are really simple.

The first step is to get outside!!! This picture was taken at around 6pm. See how dark it is already? I really am disappointed that fall is here and winter is around the corner. Don't get me wrong. I really love the fall weather, falling leaves, changing colors, crisp air, fall harvest...however, this year it seemed like summer was upon us and gone before I had a chance to enjoy it fully.

Anyway, don't get down and upset because of me. It really could be the fact that I live in Seattle and its rainy and gloomy for most of the year.

Take a look at these little bugs so happy to be outside and kicking up the leaves. Sararuth heard for the first time how it sounds to walk on fallen leaves. It was really great to see her eyes light up with delight.

Now for the second faze of our project of delight. Get a really ugly pan. One that you wont regret throwing away, and put your bar of wax on it. Set the burner to low and watch it melt. Of course during this stage you want to be careful of any little bodies or fingers. You can buy the wax at any store. I think my husband bought it at Safeway. Then carefully put your leaf, stem first, into the wax and turn over a few times. I probably didn't have to tell you that, but I like complete instructions.

Like so...
Then put them to dry on some wax paper. I put wax paper on newspaper then the leaves on top.
Then apply to whatever surface you like. Here is a picture of my sons room. He wasn't home when I did this, I can't wait to see his face!!

sand...water...beautiful sunset...

...and kids squealing. This past weekend we went to Ocean Shores. What a beautiful, relaxing, stress free time. It was last minute decision however, I'm so glad we went. The kids loved it and so did we. The weather was sunny with a nip. We had to wear jackets on the beach because it was a little windy but it was great. Look at Sararuth. As soon as I let her out of the stroller she was happy as a clam. Speaking of clams I saw many people going clam digging. I've never been and I have never eaten one either. Just the thought of them in my mouth gives me the creeps.

This next picture is kind of funny. I didn't plan on it turning out this way..however, I think it looks pretty neat. Father and son.

I like this one as well. It would look good blown up big and framed in their room. Don't you think.

There she is again. The dirtier the better. I just love her innocent look. What?? I didn't do anything?

Jacob just learned to say "cal". He was looking at the horses in wonder. I cant wait until he can ride. I want to go riding with him and Sam. I've never been so I think that would be a neat thing to do together.

More of Sandpoint, ID

Edit: For those of you who are offended by by son who is 2 1/2 and his naked picture. I hope you are satisfied that I took it off. May be you should go find something else to talk about. You are not worth my time.

Here are a few more pictures of Sandpoint, ID. This is going to be a long post so grab a cup of coffee or tea or be like me and just go for the box of ice cream!!!!I know I shouldn't I'm trying to lose weight but that is another long post.

On Saturday the weather was partly sunny however, towards the afternoon it was pretty hot so the kids got undressed and played in the water. Check out the choppy waters. I was telling Sam that this is wonderful jet skiing weather. The waves are choppy and its wonderful for jumps! He thinks I am a little dangerous because the last time I took him with me on a jet ski (it was also the first time for him) I really pushed it and he was afraid he would tumble off. But, I was kind to my hubby and didn't let him tumble(this time).

Take a look at that smile!! I could eat her!! This picture describes them perfectly. She is crazy about being undressed and in the water...he not so much. He would rather play in the sand and dabble his legs once in while in the water.

Look at this coat rack/umbrella holder/sippy cup holder...I don't know what it is but I thought it looked pretty neat. It was in the room at our hotel. Its forks bent to look like a hanger.

The sink in the guest bathroom. What an idea. I suppose if I had a extra tree stump laying around I could make this myself

When I saw this I said to myself "Why didn't I think of this?" Just a couple of weeks ago at the Goodwill I saw two old fashion sleds and I said "ah...Sam will kill me if I bring these home". Granted they didn't look as shiny as these but, I could have done that myself. Ah..I hate it when that happens. Plus, the kids would think its a horse and climb in it all the time.

Look at that front door!!!! It seems like I'm using the word LOOK a lot. There was a lot to look at in that house. It seems like in every corner there was something worth taking a picture of. She said that the wolves represents each of her children.

The dog's name is Talus. They named to house after him. He was such a nice dog, very calm and mellow. They kids climbed on him and hugged him and pulled his ears and he didn't bat an eyelash.

On our way home we stopped by the farm to pick eggplants and peppers. Check out Jacob taking a bite.

Sandpoint, ID

Wow, I cant believe its been so long since I have written. I cant really say that I've been busy...but, I've been busy. I started working in the mornings Monday through Friday so by the time I get home I pretty much spend time with the kids and laundry and whats left of the garden. However, this past weekend we were able to get away for a few days and we went to Sandpoint, ID. We ended up staying at this wonderful Bed and Breakfast place called Talus Rock. Heather and Bruce who are absolutely wonderful go out of their way to make your stay as relaxing as possible. She even pitched in eggs and bacon when I told her we were hardy breakfast eaters. All in all it was a wonderful, relaxing, peaceful stay. Her house is gorgeous and not to mention big!

Because I gave her such a short notice we had to stay in two different rooms. The first room is the Nooma room. Check out the shower head! This also was the Honeymoon Suite. She believes that a husband and wife should not have anything come between them and so the shower/bathroom has no walls.

The second and third night we stayed in the Syringa room. What beautiful decorations. It was so homey. She had unexpected decorations in nooks and crannys.

Ill have more pictures posted soon...

Flowers of summer

We went to Mom's and Dad's place to take some pictures of the lily's. I wish I was able to capture their beauty better. I probably should have used a flash but I was worried of overexposure. Anyway...they are very fragrant. You can't stay by them long they are so potent. I think there are about 11 or 12 flowers on each stalk.
Sararuth and Jacob posing for the camera.

By this time the kids were really tired but I am glad we went. Dad really wanted us to take pictures of his flowers.

ahhh..those lazy summer days

Here are a few more pictures from our trip to the river.

Just look at those chunky legs and arms!!!

She just learned to give kisses so I'll ask her to give me a kiss and she'll come up so prim and proper and give me a peck. No wet smooch for her.
